Pup instinctively leaped skyward with the skills of a cat, dodging Myzu's attack. The hybrid's body twisted in the air and then came back down to land on all fours before the fox. As soon as her talons grasped solid earth again, Pup allowed her maw to twist and her lips to curl as she resumed her fighting stance. "Show myself and my territory some respect while you're in it, and then we'll talk," she growled in response. "Manners is the second good trait of a fighter, after caution."
Pup's russet audits, which had been pinned against her cranium, abruptly stood upright as a gargantuan roar was emitted through the forest. The air itself seemed to buckle and vibrate beneath the pure monstrosity of the blast.
The dragon! Pup gasped as she turned her head to the east where the noise had come from. "Oh my God-- the tigers!"

"Oh no Rex!" Taj looked around. "What was that?" Rex moved toword his sister and looked at Taj. "I don't know!" he said. "Come on, lets take her to shelter." They both helped their sister up and helped her to a safe place. "Where do we go?"
Tage looked around. She began to growl and sniff the air.

Pup, ignoring Myzu, ran toward the direction she had heard the roar from. As she ran past Tage, she nipped at the scruff of her neck, signaling for her to follow. Pup exited the clearing and wove her way through the tall grasses hugging the trunks of the tall pines. The great trees seemed to stretch on for miles. She could barely make out the scent of the tigers, but couldn't tell for sure. It could just be any woodland creature. The hybrid's only enhanced senses were her ears and eyes. Glad she had beckoned the canine to come along, she called out behind her.
"Tage? Can you smell the tiger cubs from here?" As she kept walking deeper into the forest, Pup could smell the thick scent of burning and smoke was beginning to clog the once crystal clear air. The dragon was near-- very near indeed. They had to find the tigers soon before they became brunch-- if they weren't already, that is.

Tage, having followed Pup, sniffed the air. "Yes, this way!" She walked in the direction of the scent, then sped up to a run.

Pup followed, her limbs having some trouble keeping up with the wolf's lengthy legs. Once again, the dragon roared from somewhere within the forest. This time it was nearer and a bit too close for comfort. Pup winced and folded her sensitive audits back against her cranium in an attempt to soften the noise. "Tage, we need to hurry and get them out of here," she called. Not to mention ourselves, she thought silently as she kept running as fast as her legs could, trying to keep up with the wolf. Her nostrils were burning from the smell of burning that stuck to the air and her lungs were aching from the smoke. The great pines were beginning to spin already. They couldn't last too long in here like this.

Rex lifted Toya up and ran. Taj followed them as they ran from the terror of fire. "Keep running Taj!" Rex yelled behind him, but it sounded muffled.~
Tage stopped and sniffed around. "Um... the smoke is getting in the way of the tigers' scent." She said.

Pup cursed explosively under her breath and leeched onto the first tree she saw. Her retractable talons sunk into the bark, allowing her to agilely climb it. Once she was a good twelve feet up, she paused to look around. Through the dense smoke she could see several figures to the North weaving their way through the tall grasses. "To the North!" Pup shouted down to Tage. Scanning the forest once more, the hybrid gasped. A dark, grey figure could barely be made out to the West. A flash of scaled skin shimmered slightly in the light filtering down from the trees. The dragon stood at about ten feet at the shoulder and was heading straight toward the tiger cubs. "Watch out," she warned quickly to Tage. "The dragon is closing in fast from the West. It has silverish scales, so you won't be able to see it from the ground through the smoke!"
Pup now realized that the dragon was hunting in the forest this morning, and the smoke was its way of attack-- blinding its enemies and silently moving in for the kill. The hybrid awkwardly began to climb down from the tree. Descending from the evergreens was long, slow, and embarrassing work. It was up to Tage to track down and take the cubs to safety now. By the time the hybrid would be on the ground again, someone else could have already rescued the cubs.

Tage quickly went North. She sniffed more for the tiger cubs and when she finally began to smell them again she couldn't find Pup.~
Rex ran quickly and Taj couldn't keep up. Loya groaned and hoped away from Rex to run on her own. "Come on!" Rex yelled as he wound his way around trying to get away. "Up the tree Rex!" Taj said. Rex nodded and lept towords the tree. He helped Loya up and then Taj. They got really close and hudled together, waiting for whatever was about to happen.

"Tage, just keep going; I'll catch up," Pup called to the wolfess as she continued her slow, awkward descent. Pup hit the forest floor just as the dragon emitted yet another earsplitting roar. Hunkering down instinctively in the tall grass, Pup winced. The roars were getting loader and loader. Running North in the direction that the cat-fox had seen Tage go, she abruptly skidded to a halt at the sound of a muffled whimper. Glancing up at the redwood rooted before her, Pup could just make out the forms of three small figures curled in the crook of one of the lower limbs. "Hello? Come down quickly before--" But Pup's cries of advice were drowned out by another dragon roar. Looking around for Tage helplessly, Pup leeched onto the tree and began to climb. Time was running out.~
Nar licked his soot-covered maw hungrily. The forest was chock full of appetizing scents this morning. With his tattered wings folded along his sides and spiny head lowered, the dragon continued to exercise his hunting position. He could feel his ebony talons hooking into the lush terra with every step. He had been hunting a herd a local deer until a more curious scent had tingled his nostrils. Tiger. Before he had been forced to migrate away from his homeland due to human activity, he had communicated with many a tiger. Opening his maw once more, Nar pumped more smoke into the atmosphere. He would get to those deer soon enough. First on the day's agenda was finding these tigers. Nar opened his mouth a crack and curled his tongue about his hooked snout hungrily. Those deer would make a fine meal once he got around to it.

The three looked around and listened for the voice to once more approach them. They badly needed help and were teribly frightened.
